FIRST ALERT: Heat streak and storm chances continue into the weekend

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Get ready for a wall of humidity when you step out this morning. We’re hot and humid again today. Another heat advisory is in effect for coastal Horry and Georgetown counties, but the heat index inland will fall just short of reaching the criteria for another heat advisory.

Temperatures will climb to between 95 and 100 across the Pee Dee and into the lower 90 along the Grand Strand. With the high humidity in place, the heat index will range from 100 to 105 through the afternoon and evening. A few pop storms will be likely once again.

The heat will ease off just a bit for Friday into the weekend, but the humidity levels will remain high. Daily temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to lower 90s at the beach and into the lower and middle 90s inland. The heat index will remain just above 100 each afternoon. A few storms will be likely both Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Slightly cooler and less humid weather will try to push into the region by the middle of next week.
