Greer police said they are investigating a deadly car wreck that happened early Saturday morning.
Lt. Jimmy Holcombe with the police department said the wreck took place on Highway 14 at the intersection of River Rd. around 1 a.m. Two cars were involved in the wreck, according to police.
Holcombe confirmed the coroner was called out to the scene. The coroner has yet to release the victim’s identity, but he did reveal the deceased was a 34-year-old male.
Coroner Park Evans said the man died from blunt force trauma. He said the driver was traveling on highway 14 when he ran off the right side of the roadway and crossed the double yellow line, striking another vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction. The man was wearing a seat belt, the coroner said.
Evans said the man was pronounced dead on scene upon EMS arrival. The manner of death has been ruled an accident.
The collision is under investigation by Greer Police and the coroner’s office.
