A mobile home in Bluffton is now a total loss after catching fire Monday afternoon.
According to Capt. Randy Hunter, the Bluffton Township Fire District responded to a single family house fire on Laurel Court near Goethe Road. There were heavy smoke and flames when fire crews arrived. It took about 45 minutes for firefighters to get it under control.
Everyone inside made it out safe and there were no reports of injuries.
“The unfortunate truth is, initial information to us as emergency responders was that someone was trapped inside. So surely that kind of caused us some concern. Good news, once we arrived, first arriving firefighters were able to check with neighbors and found the occupants of the home, a mother and three children, standing outside. Reported everyone was outside and accounted for. So thankfully to that extent, no concern to be had there,” said Lee Levesque, with the Bluffton Fire District.
Officials believe the fire may have started in the back of the home. However, the exact cause remains under investigation.
The Red Cross is helping the people who live there.
