COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – A Chinese tire manufacturer plans to invest $1 billion in a South Carolina plant and create hundreds of jobs. Documents provided for a Joint Bond Review Committee meeting Tuesday show Wanli Tire Corp. plans to build a plant in Orangeburg County.

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Trump administration is seeking public comment on a plan to use seismic air guns to find oil and gas formations deep underneath the Atlantic Ocean floor. The air guns are so loud they can disturb, injure or even kill whales, sea turtles and other marine life. Permits being sought under the Marine Mammal Protection Act would allow seismic surveys in the mid-Atlantic, from Delaware to central Florida.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – A South Carolina man will spend the rest of his life in prison for killing a pregnant woman by beating her and setting her on fire. Solicitor Barry Barnette announced Monday that 53-year-old Wilford Lee Jr. pleaded guilty to murder for the August 2015 death of 28-year-old Christina Humphries.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – A South Carolina middle school teacher has been arrested after child pornography was found on his work-issued computer. Richland County sheriff’s deputies tell local media outlets 46-year-old Sean Maly was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree exploitation of a minor.
