Deputies: Chase ends in crash, arrest in Spartanburg Co.

Spartanburg County deputies said a man was arrested after leading them on a chase in a stolen pickup truck early Tuesday morning.

Deputies said they tried to pull the vehicle over in the River Street area but the pickup, a Ford F-150 that matched a description for a suspect’s vehicle in another case, did not stop.

The pickup dropped off a passenger at one point and then sped off. Deputies said the chase continued about four miles and ended just before 4 a.m. on Goldmine Road. The pickup crashed on its side near the intersection of Nichols Mountain Road.

Deputies said the driver ran off on foot but was apprehended in the woods.

The man was taken to the hospital for observation but was not injured in the crash, deputies said.

Deputies said the chase suspect was not the same suspect they were seeking in the other case that prompted the traffic stop.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released.

Deputies said they did not know the identity of the passenger who was dropped off.

No other details were immediately available.
