Deputies investigating deadly shooting in Greenville County

Greenville County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early Thursday morning.

Deputies said dispatchers received shortly before 4 a.m. about a gunshot victim along the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue Extension.

Sgt. Jimmy Bolt said deputies arrived to find the victim dead at the scene.

The Violent Crimes Unit was called in to investigate.

Investigators determined the shooting happened outside but deputies were also securing a search warrant for a nearby house that the victim may have lived in, Bolt said.

Bolt said no suspects have been identified and he asks anyone with information about the killing to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME or the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at 271-5210.

The coroner has not yet released the victim’s name.
