SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) –

Simpsonville Mayor Janice Curtis issued a statement Sunday morning confirming the death of Simpsonville City Administrator Eddie Case.

Case had taken over as the city administrator earlier this year. He had previously served as Fountain Inn’s city administrator between 2006 and this year. He also served on Fountain Inn’s city council from 1975 – 1995.

Official Remarks

Mayor Curtis issued the following statement regarding Case’s death:

“It is a sad day in our community. We have lost a tremendous asset to our community, Mr. Eddie Case. I received word early this morning that he suffered a massive heart attack and passed away shortly thereafter. Eddie was a great Christian man and my friend for decades. He loved Simpsonville and Fountain Inn and was grateful to serve both as City Administrator. Please join me and my family as we pray for his family today and days ahead for their comfort.”

Simpsonville City Councilwoman Jenn Hulehan also issued a statement:

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the terrible news that Mr. Eddie Case, our City Administrator, has passed away. Eddie was well loved and respected. He had great character and a big heart. We at the City of Simpsonville join his family and many friends in mourning the loss of a great man and offer them our thoughts and prayers in their time of grieving.”

South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan issued this statement:

“I lost a great friend and brother last night. Eddie Case was one of my best friends in life. Words cannot express the kind of man, the kind of friend, Eddie was. The saying “Give you the shirt off his back” sums it up best – because of all the people I have ever known, Eddie Case was one who actually would give you the shirt right off his back or anything else he had, including his time, if you needed it. Fountain Inn, and recently Simpsonville, benefitted from Eddie’s service and love for those communities he called home. I will miss my friend so very much…….friend, brother, mentor, confidant and so much more…..”

The Fountain Inn Museum issued a statement. Case was known for his tremendous love of both the Fountain Inn and Simpsonville areas:

“CELEBRATING A LIFE WELL LIVED – Eddie Case, known affectionately as “Mr. Fountain Inn,” passed away Saturday evening at age 65 at a horse show in Tennessee. He died doing what he loved. Eddie was the long-time city administrator for Fountain Inn and was currently serving in that same capacity in Simpsonville. He is the second sitting member of the Fountain Inn Museum board of directors to die in the span of three weeks. He played an immeasurable role in the establishment and growth of the Fountain Inn Museum. We share this great loss with all who knew and loved Eddie. Joins us in praying for the peace and comfort of his family.”
