Burton firefighters worked two separate wrecks on Friday afternoon, resulting in two people that were injured. One of those victims appeared to have critical injuries.
Firefighters arrived at the first wreck just after 1:30 p.m. on County Shed Road. Two vehicles- a van and a pickup truck- sustained moderate damages.
The driver of the van was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. County Shed Road was closed for more than 45 minutes as officials worked to remove debris from the roadway and assist the injured driver.
The second wreck occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Clarendon Road. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a damaged motorcycle near the gates of Clarendon Plantation, yet officials were unable to locate the driver. Beaufort County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS assisted Burton firefighters as they searched the scene. They were able to locate the driver roughly a mile away from the scene.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
