Police: Woman fatally shot, dismembered boyfriend

BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK/CNN) – A woman in Texas faces murder charges after investigators say she shot her boyfriend in his sleep then dismembered his body and threw the remains in a dumpster.

Cierra Sutton reported her boyfriend Steven Coleman missing in August.

According to the victim’s friend Dominique Clark, Sutton then stayed with Coleman’s family as they looked for their missing loved one.

“She played the role of an innocent person. She played that role of an innocent person, and she played it to the fullest,” Clark said.

Days after Coleman was reported missing, a male torso was found at a landfill near Baytown, TX, a body part police believe is Coleman’s.

Sutton was arrested Thursday in Louisiana, following a police investigation.

The woman admitted to others she shot Coleman in the head as he slept after an argument, according to investigators.

Police say Sutton then used a machete to chop her boyfriend into pieces because she couldn’t carry his body to the dumpster. She allegedly disposed of the body parts in various local dumpsters, including those at her apartment complex.

“Devil-sent. That’s the mind of a bad spirit. That’s not a normal mind. That’s not a mind of God. That’s not one of God’s children,” Clark said.

While Clark waits for justice along with Coleman’s family, he is thinking about his past with his friend.

“I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to experience a person like that because I know I will never meet a person like that ever again,” Clark said.
