FBI: Instagram messages show teen planned school shooting

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) – An FBI agent says social media messages from a teen appear to show he planned to shoot children at his old elementary school in South Carolina.

The Instagram messages found by FBI agent Shandal Ewing also show the then 14-year-old boy planned to kill his father to get his truck keys to drive to Townville Elementary School in September 2016.

News outlets report the agent testified Tuesday in a hearing to determine if the boy is tried as an adult for killing his father and a first grader when he was 14.

Ewing also showed a message the teen sent to his Instagram friends saying he thought about shooting at a middle school, but there was a police officer assigned there.

The hearing enters its third day Wednesday.
