MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – High heat and humidity will reach their peak Wednesday and Thursday with the heat index reaching to dangerous levels both days.
The first round of dangerous heat of the season will continue through the end of the week. High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday afternoon will reach between 95 and 100 across the Pee Dee and 92 to 95 on the Grand Strand. Humidity will remain high and will result in dangerous heat index levels. Both days will see the heat index climbing to between 105 and 110 from the late morning hours through the early evening.
Only a few cooling thunderstorms are possible Wednesday and Thursday with rain chances only at 20%.
Hot and humid weather will continue from Friday into the weekend with temperatures only cooling slightly. High humidity will continue to result in the heat index reaching just over 100°. Better storm chances will develop on Friday and the risk of a few afternoon and evening storms will continue into the weekend.
