Man arrested in connection with weekend homicide in Robeson County


MAXTON, NC (WMBF) – A Lumberton man has been charged in connection with a weekend homicide in Maxton.

According to a press release from the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an early-morning shooting on Saturday at 207 Jefferson Road in Maxton. When law enforcement arrived, Kenston Locklear, 21, had been found shot multiple times.

The victim was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where he died, the release stated.

Jorden Kasee Smith, of Lumberton, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is in the Robeson County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.

According to investigators, an altercation took place between the two people, leading up to the shooting. Authorities have not yet determined what the altercation was about.
