Family releases statement after Byrnes High senior fatally shot

SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) –

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office and the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of an Upstate teen on Friday.

Dispatchers said Spartanburg County deputies and the coroner were called to a scene on Larkin Park Drive in Spartanburg.

The coroner said 17-year-old Antonio Panuamba of Welford was pronounced dead the scene. An autopsy is pending and the coroner said the cause and manner of death will be determined after further investigation.

Officials with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office are treating this incident as a homicide.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. Tips can be submitted anonymously, and if they lead to the responsible suspect’s identification and location, tippers can be eligible for a cash reward.
