Forum held to discuss revitalizing downtown Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach city leaders gathered Friday morning for a forum to discuss revitalizing the downtown area.

The focus, what would you like to see in downtown Myrtle Beach?

Though it seems like a simple question there seems to be no clear answer.

Representatives from two other cities in the Carolinas – Greenville, S.C., and Durham, N.C. – took part in the forum to talk about how their respective communities were bettered through downtown revitalization.

The forum also included an audience survey that asked such questions as “Do you think downtown Myrtle Beach is family-friendly today?” and “If you owned the 13-acre parcel where the Pavilion used to be, how would you develop it?”

Take a look at the results of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce’s audience survey below:

With new attractions coming to downtown such as the Boulevard, vacationers are excited about new opportunity, but safety is always number one factor

The question now remains as to what will become of downtown Myrtle Beach.

Speakers at the forum encourage the community to get involved and let your ideas be heard.
